Tim was born in lower Michigan and grew up in various places, including East Lansing, Big Rapids, and Houghton Lake. At 10 years old, he started working during the summers to help his single mom, cleaning and washing cars for 75c/hr at a used car dealership. After work, he picked strawberries for a local farmer and worked out a deal to get paid in flats of berries instead of cash. Tim learned the value of good customer relations by selling his strawberries to tourists at a stand in front of his home.

In 1977, Tim moved to Hancock Michigan, continued working several jobs, graduated from Hancock high school, and obtained a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University. He started a family young and is still married to his high school sweetheart 39 years later. In 1992, the family moved to Grand Rapids, where they still live today, and Tim started his own business in home improvement.

Tim's business grew quickly due to his good work ethic, integrity, and long hours. Both of Tim's children still live in West Michigan, and he has six grandchildren to spoil. He and his company, Above & Beyond Property Maintenance LLC, are active in the community and donate to several local programs.
